Program Summary
Part of a nationwide workforce preparation and employment network, the Yonkers Employment Center, under NADAPs management, provides a range of no-cost services and resources. Yonkers residents can find help preparing for interviews, developing resumes, and identifying job opportunities. Those currently employed can upgrade their skills through training and workshops. By connecting qualified job applicants to local employers, the YEC also meets local economic development objectives.
Program Features
- Job Openings - on-line computer systems allows job seekers to view job listings throughout New York State
- Comprehensive Employment Assistance skills assessment, resume development, interviewing techniques and job referrals are offered to area residents
- Job Training Opportunities employment specialists assess the employability skills of the job seekers and assist them in obtaining training to update their skills
- Apprenticeship Programs assistance in entering state certified apprenticeship programs is provided
- Workshops job seekers can participate in a variety of workshops customized to meet their needs. Interviewing Skills, Internet Job Search, Resume Writing and Computer Skills training are just a few of the offerings at the YEC
- YEC Partners a variety of community organizations and government agencies partner with the YEC to meet the needs of the job seekers and businesses
- Job Fairs job fairs and recruiting events are sponsored to assist local businesses in meeting their hiring needs
- Summer Youth Employment Program summer jobs for Yonkers youth are provided yearly to qualifying applicants
